Sacred Earth is a place where the magnificence of the natural world can open us up to the hidden beauty of our inner being. Against the dramatic backdrop of Auckland’s west coast, Sacred Earth provides a rejuvenating environment for personal retreats, and a perfect setting for group workshops. Above all, we offer a welcome home to the world’s earth-based wisdom traditions.

Featuring eco-friendly houses overlooking spectacular ocean vistas, our retreat spaces allow direct access to wilderness trails, black-sand beaches, and primal waterfalls. Alongside Karekare’s astonishing natural beauty, we also have a beautiful meditation temple (ideal for yoga), and a magnificent Maori Pou Whenua (sacred pillar). Carved from ancient wood, the symbolism of the Pou is particularly significant for it speaks directly to the purpose of Sacred Earth: to restore the living connection between heaven and earth, spirit and nature.

VISION

From the awakening to the Self in all, we realise that we are more than the limited, we become limitless. We realise that serving that oneness of Self is expressed in serving creation, until our life becomes the sacred song of service, a hymn of Love that binds, yet frees us. We freely give ourselves over to the process of connected service, not giving to something outside of us, but actually being in the flow of oneness, so that there is no separation.

CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY

In ancient times, within the Himalayan Vedantic tradition, the Rishi communities had a harmonious existence, ebbing and flowing with the tides of nature.  From there, emerged the wisdom of the Vedas, revealed to the ancient rishis through intuitive insights when they were in deep meditative states. The lives and teachings of these Rishis are the inspiration behind the establishment of a conscious community at Sacred Earth.

Our community was prophesied 5,000 years ago by Sage Suka, who is believed to have possessed a highly developed consciousness. In 1994, through grace, we found ourselves having our palm leaves read by the Suka Nadi pandit and our purpose to establish Sacred Earth, linked to the Himalayan Yoga Vedanta tradition, was revealed.

At Sacred Earth we endevour to embody the empowering value of community coming together with the shared intention of growth and evolution. We have had the great blessing to live for periods in satsang with various saints and yogis in the Himalayas and experience the elevation of consciousness in their presence . In this spirit of satsang, the collective consciousness at Sacred Earth allows us to share our own inner truth with each other.

We offer a unique opportunity to experience living and being with not only wonderful healers, yogis and practitioners with all kinds of talents, philosophies and inspiration, but also friends from all walks of life and many parts of the world.
