Ashtanga Yoga with Luisa

Ashtanga yoga is an effective sequence of poses that develops strength and flexibility and improves your overall well-being.

The Ashtanga Vinyasa practice begins with about five repetitions of Surya Namaskara A and about five repetitions of Surya Namaskara B, followed by the standing sequence and then the sitting sequence, followed by a standard closing sequence.

In this class you will gradually learn a gentle approach to the Ashtanga Sequence (Half Primary Series). Modifications are always offered to allow a well-balanced individual practice.

About Luisa:

Luisa’s mantra is “Go with the flow and embody the flow of life.”

When she isn’t flowing on the mat then Luisa lives her mantra on the ocean waves as a keen surfer. Luisa has a profound connection to the mindful aspects of Yoga and her love for the practice is rooted in her daily mediation and pranayama routines.

Luisa graduated as a Yoga Teacher from Jayayoga 200-hour training in Auckland back in 2020 and when on the teaching mat she inspires her Yogis to let go of any former beliefs and thoughts they may have held about Yoga encouraging instead a playful attitude so that they can explore more and more of themselves.

Luisa lives by Ayurveda and Yoga practices to support her mental physical emotional and spiritual health and growth and for her Yoga acts as a beautiful complement by helping her to relearn power and connection.

Savitri Temple hosts regular programmes of yoga, meditation, chanting and spiritual discourse. The temple is open to peoples of all faiths and paths to utilise for quiet contemplation, prayer, singing, and reflecting of the divinity of nature itself.

While there is no charge for use of the temple as a venue it is important to schedule a suitable time. Koha is most welcomed to contribute to costs.

Located at Satyavan, the Temple have been visited for many years by spiritual groups that seek its quiet tranquillity and spiritual vibrations, which they have enhanced with their earnest and sincere devotion. Many spiritual activities have occurred, including meditation, ritual worship of the deities, devotional singing and chanting and Satsang  (teachings and discussions). Groups and individuals from all paths and faiths are welcome to come and share their unique gifts and perspectives. Satyavan is dedicated to the universality of all peoples and embraces the reality of the unity that connects us all.

A place of worship, prayer and silence, dedicated to the Light and Love of Sathya Sai Baba and his universal teaching of the oneness of all people and all religions. This temple is for all to use, whatever faith or path, in the spirit of unity.

The Prema Charitable Trust (founded by Jenny & Phillip Cottingham) generously supports the maintenance of the temple and has the goal of building or supporting further universal temples of light throughout New Zealand.

We actively encourage people from all faiths and paths to utilise the Temple and the facilities at Satyavan.
